STEMscopes Dive-In Engineering Named Finalist for EdTech Cool Tool Award

Created by Accelerate Learning and the New York Hall of Science, the hands-on engineering curriculum provides inquiry-based experiences that encourage exploration and inspire ingenuity


The STEMscopes™ DIVE-In Engineering curriculum has been chosen as a finalist for the EdTech Awards 2018 in the Coding, Computer Science, and Engineering Solution category. STEMscopes DIVE-In Engineering is part of Accelerate Learning's award-winning STEMscopes PreK-12 product suite, which is built from the ground up to address the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and today's state standards. 

The EdTech Awards were established to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the most exceptional innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology.  Now in its eighth year, the U.S.-based program is one of the largest and most competitive recognition programs in all of education technology. Finalists in the 2018 awards program were selected from thousands of entries. 

Developed in partnership with the New York Hall of Science, STEMscopes DIVE-In Engineering is an online, comprehensive, and kit-based engineering curriculum. It provides practical, inquiry-based educational experiences that encourage students to do what real-world engineers do: Deconstruct, Innovate, Vary, and Explore. Using the DIVE method, students take apart and examine a working prototype (Deconstruct); reverse engineer and make their own version (Imitate); analyze what they created and brainstorm ways to make it different (Vary); and solve the original problem in a new way or apply their solution to a new problem (Explore).

STEMscopes DIVE-in Engineering is available in bundles for grades 3-5 and 6-8, and it offers a variety of teacher resources including guides with step-by-step instructions, rubrics, and teacher toolkits.
